Would you like a free Orange or Banana?

050Shoppers at Tesco Newton Abbot were asked that question by Teignbridge Volunteer Centre volunteer Roy Maloney (here pictured talking to Mrs. Marilyn Cox from Bishopsteignton).

Teignbridge CVS Volunteer Centre staff and volunteers spent a day at the Newton Abbot Tesco store and gave out free fruit  to promote volunteering as part of the  Make a Difference Day campaign. They spoke to over 250 shoppers about volunteering in their local communities!  "This was a great way to promote local volunteering opportunites and raise awareness about volunteering in general" says Volunteering Services Co-ordinator Anja Kroening-Maynard " I was pleased at just how interested people were and already have had a number of enquiries resulting from our contacts there. Tesco was very supportive of us promoting volunteering."
