Award from Natural England for North Devon Volunteers

Ken and Chris DSC00666 copyChadwick, from Ilfracombe, have been awarded certificates for Exceptional Service from Natural England.   The awards recognise their work for the Ilfracombe Healthy Town Initiative, which encourages residents to get healthy through walking.  The walking group Ken and Chris help organise now has 69 members and walks every Tuesday.

Jon Child, from Ilfracombe Healthy Town Initiative, said: "Ken and Chris deserve a special mention for all the hard work and commitment they have contributed to the project."

Chris Chadwick, who also volunteers for the North Devon Car Scheme, said "Ken and I were delighted to receive this award for our volunteering.  It came totally out of the blue, we didn't expect it at all!"  She continued "Walking is a great way to get or stay fit, and we thoroughly enjoy the walks in such a beautiful part of the country."
