At last a qualification opportunity for participants of a Devon theatre group for adults with a learning disability. As part of the continual development of Get Changed Theatre Company we will soon be offering our learning disabled participants the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification.Recent discussions with Devon Adult and Community Learning partnership have resulted in an opportunity for Get Changed participants to undertake National Open College Network qualifications in ‘Exploring Performance’ and ‘Exploring Dance’ and to have valuable skills learned by individuals, through our arts based learning at Get Changed, accredited to them.
We are looking to begin the qualification in September 2012 and during the summer there will be a process of assessment with individuals who wish to do the accreditation to ascertain the correct level at which to enter each participant. Each qualification covers 30 hours learning time. The accreditation will be assessed using video and photographic evidence, building a personal portfolio towards each participant’s individual qualification.
NOCN provides flexible, credit-based qualifications to its learners working towards bite size learning meeting the individual needs and abilities of the special needs learner.
